Overview
Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Education
Designed for working adults, this program empowers participants to make a lasting difference in the lives of students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Learn how to guide behavior, support instruction, and nurture growth in social, language, and math skills. With hands-on field experiences woven throughout the journey, you'll gain the confidence and real-world insight to inspire the next generation.
This two-year program is a pathway to 黑料社's Bachelor of Applied Science in Teacher Education (BAS-TE) degree and our Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Leadership & Technical Management (BAS-OLTM).

In addition to Tuition & Fees, the following student expenses may be required, depending on the practicum site:
Additional Program Costs - First year: Approximately $60-$85
- Fingerprinting: $10-$25 (location prices vary) AND
- Fingerprint processing through OSPI (Required): $50 OR
- You may complete the electronic live scan fingerprint process at the ESD location nearest you. You will not need a fingerprint card for this process. Fingerprinting is $85 and an appointment is required. Make your appointment here:
Supplemental Career-Related Expenses
- ParaPro Assessment (only required if below 72 credits): $90
- General Para Certification through OSPI - $74
- Sped Para Certification through OSPI - $54
- English Language Learner Para Certification through OSPI - $54

Learn strategies to develop effective relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Apply knowledge of emotional and academic support to students, promoting their social-emotional development.

Demonstrate the ability to assist in administering assessments and monitoring student progress, and recording and maintaining data.

Develop culturally responsive small-group instructional strategies to effectively support classroom instruction.

Demonstrate professionalism and ethical practices in a variety of educational settings and scenarios.

Requirements for Field Experience (EDUC 191/291)
- 99 hours per course under mentor educator/administrator who supervises paraeducators
- 191: General Education and Learning Assistance
- 291: Special Education and English as a Second Language
- Background clearance required for per district policies
- Current paraeducators may use work hours
- Student will have one observation session by 黑料社 instructor
- Mentor will be responsible for one final rubric and a timesheet signature
