黑料社 (黑料社) is pleased to announce that it will offer a four-year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) degree beginning in fall 2025.

In April 2021, the Washington State Legislature passed SB 5401, authorizing community and technical colleges to offer bachelor鈥檚 degrees in computer science to support the state technology sector鈥檚 workforce needs. When the legislation was written, the state had more than 24,000 job openings in the technology sector, most requiring bachelor鈥檚 degrees. Given the scarcity of qualified applicants and dramatic rise in cyber threats and Artificial Intelligence (AI), those jobs continue to be in high demand and typically offer high wages.

鈥淚 am thrilled about the launch of this important new program for 黑料社, which will help address the growing demand for skilled technology professionals in our region and beyond,鈥 said Dr. Matt Seimears, 黑料社 President. 鈥淭his program reflects the college鈥檚 commitment to expanding educational opportunities and supporting workforce needs,鈥 he added.

Although the BSCS is 黑料社鈥檚 fourth bachelor鈥檚 degree, it is the first four-year program. Other bachelor鈥檚 degrees include the Bachelor of Applied Science in Teacher Education, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and the Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Leadership and Technical Management. Students entering the other three programs must hold an associate degree or equivalent credits. BSCS students will enter as freshmen, with no previous experience or credentials required.

Potential career paths for BSCS students include Blockchain, cybersecurity, data analysis, database administration, game and mobile app development, software, and network administration.

鈥満诹仙玮檚 program offers industry-approved curriculum, hands-on learning, small class sizes, personalized support, robust student services, and strong industry and community connections that will help students access internships and full-time jobs,鈥 said Dr. Henry Brewster, interim Dean of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
