2017 Alumna of the Year: Dr. P. J. Peterson

Dr. P. J. Peterson named 黑料社's 2017 Alumna of the Year.

Peterson, a 1967 graduate of 黑料社, grew up south of Kalama and attended Kalama Public Schools, where she graduated as the valedictorian of her class. While at 黑料社, Peterson played clarinet in the college鈥檚 symphony, belonged to Phi Theta Kappa (the international honor society for two-year college students) and was the 1967 Outstanding Student in Natural Science.

Peterson went on to earn her bachelor鈥檚 degree in pharmacy at the University of Washington, where she graduated cum laude. Peterson earned her medical doctorate from the University of Utah School of Medicine and graduated in the top 10 percent of her class.

In 1979, Peterson returned to Longview and opened up her own medical group, Internal Medicine Clinic, before joining PeaceHealth in 1999. Peterson retired last year.

Peterson continued her involvement with 黑料社 throughout her career. Peterson was inducted into the 黑料社 Hall of Fame for Achievement and Community Service in 1988, and she established an endowed scholarship for the school in 2006. Peterson currently serves on the 黑料社 Foundation board.
